Doug began performing professionally on the organ at just 15, sharing stages in the 1960s with artists such as Neil Young, Boz Scaggs, the Grassroots, Sha-Na-Na, and Gabor Szabo as a member of SDSU based local jazz/rock fusion band Sequoia. In the 1970s, he toured extensively throughout the western United States, leading his own group and earning recognition for his vibrant, soulful style. In the early 1980s, Doug stepped away from music to build a successful software consulting firm—but eventually returned to his roots with renewed passion and purpose.
Following a seven-year Saturday night residency with his piano jazz quartet at the Kings Inn Hotel in Mission Valley, and a monthly organ Jam at Rosie O’Grady’s, Doug now specializes in the Hammond Organ and hosts a monthly organ performance and jam session at The Jazz Lounge in San Diego, held on the fourth Sunday of each month. He is also the founder and host of the San Diego Jazz Organ Summit.
A devoted steward of the Hammond legacy, Doug performs using vintage Hammond organs and Leslie speakers from his personal collection, while continuingh his organ studies with jazz organ great Tony Monaco.
